EHS SpecialistOverview: Amazon Fulfillment is seeking a full-time EHS Specialist (EHSS) to serve as a designated safety representative for their assigned fulfillment center (FC), coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Global Safety Program as directed by the safety leadership. The EHSS promotes a positive safety culture while complying with Amazon’s safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes conducting training and coaching associates on observed work habits. The EHSS is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems. The EHSS supports management’s efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate Safety Program expectations and applicable federal & state laws. The EHSS also conducts risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. In addition, the EHSS is responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics.*Relocation assistance is not provided*EHS Specialist Responsibilities:· Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly audits· Facilitate incident investigation process· Maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon and OSHA regulations· Enter Safety Incident Information in internal database in a timely manner· Perform safety observations & audits· Train and assist others (Area Managers, safety team members, etc.) to complete their safety responsibilities (Audits, Follow Safety Rules, etc.)· Perform specific safety training as required by the Safety Manager· May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other safety-related activities depending on the business unit and location· Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:· Ability to communicate health and safety needs to all levels of the organization· Calm demeanor in emergency situations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:· Minimum of 1 years in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field or bachelor’s degree in related field· Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910· Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity · Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the work place· Available to work flexible shifts including days, nights and/or weekends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Site EHS Manager will be responsible for partnering with a site operations team in a Fulfillment Center to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. A successful Site EHS manager will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change by providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The Site EHS Manager must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon safety policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. You will work to identify best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the safety landscape. The Site EHS Manager will possess excellent safety program knowledge as well as environmental and ergonomic knowledge and be able to demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations. The Site EHS Manager will lead a team of hourly safety team members: EHS Specialist, Safety Coordinators, Onsite first aid Associates. You will create and execute leadership development plans for your Safety Associates on the team. They will communicate safety team expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to their safety teams and ensure they are executing the core competencies of an Amazon safety professional. Site EHS Manager Responsibilities:· Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy.· Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.· Measure sites’ performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.· Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations.· Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.· Perform frequent site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other FCs.· Audit record-keeping practices and Global Safety Database (Gensuite) entries to be aligned with global safety standards and local regulations.· Audit the workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.· Lead and mentor Safety Associates in your assigned facility.· Spend time at the fulfillment centers and seek input from Safety teams, Associates and leaders on safety program improvement opportunities. Ensure open communication on the status of progress and resolution against these suggestions.· Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for health and safety professionals with a background in Athletic Training (ATC) to help support Amazon’s injury prevention program. In this position, you will be a part of the onsite Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Team and will perform both injury prevention and injury management (first aid) activities. This position will work in an Amazon Fulfillment Center and report directly to the Site Safety Manager. The Injury Prevention Specialist will be expected to proactively analyze tasks for potential ergonomic and safety issues, perform biomechanical and ergonomic assessments, provide first aid care to injured employees, and execute other Amazon injury prevention activities. The IPS will provide conservative care to injury Associates, but also observe Associates performing their job tasks and educate them on ways to perform their tasks effectively with less stress to the irritated body part. Onsite IPSs will proactively observe ergonomic practices and educate associates to improve technique prior to the onset of soreness or injury. Detailed Description:· Provide triage, first aid and/ or referral to an outside medical provider, if indicated.· Maintain records of first aid care provided to associates.· Minimize the risk of injury of employees through awareness, education, and intervention.· Attend and participate at “start-up” meetings to lead daily stretching routines.· Understand and learn each department and communicate the proper techniques on how to prevent soft tissue injuries.· Evaluate trends in soft tissue injuries and develop action items to address injury trends.· Provide daily activity logs to the safety team and senior leadership team. Provide analysis of all onsite incidents on a monthly basis including recommendations on how to reduce the risk and severity of injuries within the warehouse.· Provide accommodation recommendations related to job placement for all employees on restrictions given by a medical provider.· Understand and learn each department and job function within the warehouse to fully understand the body mechanics involved in every task. Be actively involved with improvements to the standard work process.· Frequent “floor time” to interact with both associates and managers, providing coaching on observed at-risk work habits. Attend and speak at daily “start-up” meetings. Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:· Success as an IPS will require a positive, outgoing, energetic work style.· Ability to communicate programs and initiatives at all levels of the organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Certified Athletic Trainer, by either the National Athletic Trainers’ Association or equivalent State Certification· Bachelor’s Degree· Must have a valid card evidencing successful completion of a CPR course at the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider level (American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross)· Associate will be required to maintain all medical credentials· Proficiency in Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
