August Chapter Meeting

For our 2025-2026 ASSP Chapter kick-off meeting, please join us for an insightful discussion on PFAS and Dark Waters with Rob Bilott of Taft.

Summary:

Rob has gained international prominence in connection with uncovering and disclosing the world-wide impact of environmental contamination by the “forever chemicals” known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances). PFAS are a group of man-made “forever chemicals” used in products like nonstick cookware, waterproof fabrics, and firefighting foam — now linked to widespread environmental contamination and health concerns.

In this session, Rob will discuss his groundbreaking work that exposed the dangers of PFAS and inspired the book Exposure and the acclaimed film Dark Waters, which chronicles his legal battle against DuPont.  Rob will explore how PFAS pollution was uncovered, the challenges of holding corporations accountable, and share his decades-long fight to bring this issue to the scientific community, regulators, law makers and the public.
