Jonathan Schmidt is the Program Coordinator for the Chemical Emergency Advisory Council (CEPAC) in Franklin County. CEPAC functions as the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) within the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response at Columbus Public Health. Over the past four years, Jonathan has been responsible for developing local hazard analyses for Tier II Reporting facilities, managing the county’s community right-to-know program, planning CEPAC meetings, conducting on-site inspections of hazardous materials facilities, creating training programs for responders and reporters, and executing the hazmat plan. He earned his bachelor’s degree in public health from Kent State University.

Jonathan will educate attendees regarding the history and function of CEPAC/LEPC, and how it aids local facilities and Hazmat teams. Additionally, he will demonstrate creating chemical plumes based on real chemicals held within Franklin County.
